baggage and other necessary items

well - le'felted handbag is now in the hands of "leon the taylor" (tailor?)... and he will dress it with a wonderful brightly striped satin lining and add the bambo handles...i should have i back next saturday... i took a couple of pix of it last nite.... here it is "pre-lined"... (double-click on the photos for larger view). i embellised both sides with an identical design... the handles are rested on top in the second photo so that you can get an idea of the actual size (about 10"wide x 8" high). the hand-dyed skein of wool felted very nicely, creating the different hues of color for the fields of sky. the grass at the bottom was created by blending in "JAM" for the first 12 rows (and then trimming it up after felting). once the lining is in, i'll post a final photo so you can see the finished piece - the lining really adds a nice touch! - Thank U, Lisi for creating the sample that led me to this!

i have to admit - i was rather at a loss of how to spend the rest of my waking hours friday nite with the handbag being completed and all... and yet, i was a tad weary energywise from stitching all of those appliques on with tiny seed-beads to even begin the thought of another project. so, instead, i grabbed the digital camera and took a few pix to share with you of some of the other "creations" i've mentioned in former posts...

This is the Rowan Biggy Print capelet from the book "Big Just Got Bigger" (it's the one on the cover)... i'm still personalizing it with my own "touches" - embellishing the
edges with Sworvoski crystals and seed beads... hope to have it done soon.

This next one is what I call the "pink fuzz" capelet from a pattern in Viva Poncho (that's the Viva Poncho book pictured with my interpretation of the capelet). Although I followed the pattern to a "T" and checked my guage - it seems to have come out a bit small (tight) at the neck. I still have to get some black satin ribbon to weave
through at the collar so that it can be closed nicely with a bow.

I went crazy-mad (in a good way) with the Rowan Biggy Print scarf - LOVE IT! the photo shows the WIP. I was able to bind off last nite and just have to add the fringe. This scarf is SO THICK and HEAVY and LONG - totally, awsomely warm and cozy! When wearing this there is absolutely NO WAY cold air will touch your skin! An East-coaster's must-have for the chilly weather!

This little "wrap" is starting to come to life... it was a practice piece I began working on while reading "Under the Tuscan Sun"... my color selection was driven by the thought of olive orchards, good wine and delicious Italian cuisine. I put it aside for awhile, but now I'm paying attention to it again - trying to make it into something "real n' wearable"... some edgework and a great vintage broach might do the trick!
... and finally, a couple of love.leigh.hatz... (do you know how difficult it is to take a self-hat-portrait!?! - obviously, these pictures demonstrate just that fact!) ... anyway, no pattern-planning on these... i just make 'em up as i go along.... and now... i'm gunna go... take a NAP! happy knitting... love . leigh
