GREETINGS friends and fellow knitters! Well, the Stitch Cafe's "Love in Every Stitch" fund-raiser on Sunday 10/23 was a success! Though the official $ amount has not yet been announced, I understand that we did a hefty business! That's GREAT - as 20% of the proceeds are going to charity! There were about 20 artists displaying and selling their creations... myself included. The offerings ranged from wonderful knit items and beautiful jewelry to incredible quilts and a scented oil & lotion station where you could blend your favorite scent into body lotions, scrubs... There were lots of delicious, non-dietetic treats at the bake sale, too! The weather behaved, and though the sun didn't shine until late in the day, the overcast sky and cool temps were fine, as we were situated outside behind the shop.
I was so pleased at the reaction to the wristlets and the other items I displayed for sale (felted bags, knit hats, capelets, scarves). Being that this was my first event selling these knit items, I experienced much joy from the purchases customers made! It's so fun to watch someone find something that they get excited about.. and it's such a nice feeling to know that something I made made someone else happy! AND... to top it off, moooooost importantly, the $$ goes to help those in need! Man, you can't beat that gratification!
So... with this my last week of freedom before re-joining the working world, I'm busy filling several private orders I've received for the wristlets, and am excited to have been invited to display them at a holiday boutique at the end of November. So, it's back to the workshop! In addition to the wristlets, I've made several pairs of
hand warmers (fingerless gloves), weaving vintage ribbon through at the wrist for a finishing touch. (You can kinda get the jist of it from the photo). They're VERY fun to make... and even MORE FUN to wear! A perfect accessory for the chilly temperatures of the season! To each of you who've been so kind with your support of Love.Leigh.Knitz creations, I offer you my gratitude! My heart smiles knowing that a string of wool and a couple of sticks and some free time can create something that brings joy to others. Happy n' healthy knitting, one and all! Love.Leigh
