what 2 knit next?

... i'm sure many of us have heard that thing about how women can be indecisive, right?... i guess that statement holds a bit of truth when it comes to knitting projects... i for one get bombarded with several different ideas of what to knit next... and usually have numerous projects going on various sets of needles all at the same time.... (sound familiar??) the small card table that serves as my "workstation" is simply running out of real estate space, as i work on a felted handbag.. several wristlets and pairs of wrist-warmers, a messenger bag (that's side one pictured above)... and a small felted makeup bag... (yes, the local yarn shop LOVES me!)... I've been BIG (literally) on the Rowan patterns in "The Next Big Thing"... graduating from last year's finds in "Big Just Got Bigger"... being a Rowan fan, i find their patterns pretty true to size... and easy (and enjoyable) to work through! the "Violet" messenger bag (a pattern by Kim Hargreaves) is about half way completed... and I've selected a black satin remnant with oriental flowers that will make a nice lining... of course, i'll probably add my own touch of some beading around the edges... i like things to have just a hint of sparkle... or a flower here n' there... a delicate touch to girl-it-up... several pairs of wrist-warmers are staring up from the table waiting to be sewn... and the embellishments on the felted handbag are all pinned in place, waiting for me to secure them... too many projects... not enough fingers! though the temperatures here in surf city aren't calling for sweaters and mittens just yet, hopefully the season will allow for a few chilly days so that these fun accessories can be put to good use!

... on the reality side of life... the recent "new job" opportunity turned out not to be the right choice, (very disappointing, indeed!)... so i'm back in the market looking for the next great gig! sure wish i could knit for a living... but, then again, i love having such a fun hobby that allows me to escape from the daily grind and recoop and regroup with my thoughts, ya' know what I mean? as a matter-o-fact, i did just that this past saturday down at the beach... (actually, at the Michael Landon Park just across PCH from Pepperdine U.)... i sat in my beach chair and watched the youth soccer tourney... while eating my lunch and knitting away for a few hours on what was the most beautiful day! who'd believe it's nearly December? a crystal clear day... blue sky... bright sunshine...70-something degrees... and a view all the way out to Catalina Island! You simply can't beat that!

... tomorrow is turkey-day-eve... and, though most look forward to a traditional meal... and watching football... i'm thankful simply for an excuse to spend an entire day knitting! (oh, for sure, I'll partake in some of mom's turkey feast and pumpkin pie... but not without my needles close by!!)... where-ever you are... and what-ever your plans... here's to wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday!

happy happy Thanksgiving! (gobble-gobble)

love.leigh
