Happy New Year!For so many, this is a season of very chilling temperatures. Not much the case here in Surf City, though it does get cool enough to occassionally sport a snuggly scarf. I knit this one up the other night using Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Superchunky in a lovely, creamy, custard yellow... As it turns out, once the cooler temps arrived, I discovered that I had sold all of the scarves I'd made, with not one left for my own wear! So, I was fast to grab my #11's and make this one! And I'm so glad I did, cuz' the yarn is incredibly soft around my neck (not scratchy at all)... I even sleep with this scarf on at night (sooooo sexy! but HEY...heating prices being what they are this winter, it's my fashionable reply to So. Ca Edison's rates!)
The pattern for the scarf is easy... so, if you want to make one, here's how:
Key:
st=stitch
P=purl
K=knit
tog=together
RS=Right Side
WS=Wrong Side
rep=repeat
What you'll need:
- Size US 11 needles
- Debbie Bliss Cashmerino SuperChunky - 3 (75m/100g) in the color of your choice...
Pattern:
Cast On 26 stitches
Row 1 = Purl.
Row 2 = P1, *(K1, P1, K1) all into next st, P3tog, rep from * to last st, P1.
Row 3 = Purl.
Row 4 = P1, *P3tog, (K1, P1, K1) all into next st, rep from * to last st, P1.
These 4 rows form the pattern. Continue in the patten until you reach the desired length of scarf (mine is approx. 58" long), ending with a WS row. Cast off.
This pattern is great, and easy - even if you're a new knitter. It creates a nice texture (might hear it referred to as the "popcorn stitch") and is a bit more stylish than a straight garter or stocking stitch... So, CAST ON and make yourself a cozy post-holiday gift to keep warm while the winter season is still upon us! You deserve it!
With wishes for good health and happy knitting...
Love.Leigh
