March: Came in like a lion... and is knitting up like a lamb!

THE WEEKEND is well under-way... (and an incredibly COLD one at that!?#! can you believe it actually SNOWED in malibu yesterday!! yup! IT DID!)... it was so nice to sleep in this a.m. and arise only to the sound of ... well, the sound of silence, as there was no need for the alarm clock today. i welcomed the morning by staying put... in bed... kitty at my feet... knitting in-hand...happy as a clam! for there were no appointments to be met... no plans made... simply a day all to myself to do as i pleased... and what pleased me most was to spend several hours working on my latest project - a tunic top - in anticipation of SPRING! (for those who know me best... i'm fine knitting up all the wool stuff ... hats... scarves... gloves... for the current season... but i'm a devoted flip-flop-wearer... and CAN NOT WAIT for the warm temperatures to return!)

after ridding myself of an incredible case of bed-head-hair so as not to scare the general public when i ventured outside, i made myself presentable and "headed" (pun intended!) to the Stitch Cafe' for the afternoon. Luckily, it wasn't a "crowded" day at the store (no classes scheduled)... which meant available seating in the quaint, cozy shoppe! i snagged a corner spot on the sofa and delved into 27 rounds of St st, watching the bodice of the tunic top start to develop after each round. yes, it's actually starting to look like something! (a small dose of gratification is evident by the smirk on my face when i type this...)... we'll see how it goes as i'm now entering the more difficult sections of this pattern... there will be "un-knitting" for sure... but so far, SO GOOD!

i did take a break on Sunday and joined my mother for an afternoon performance of "Swing-Swing-Swing" in which my dad performed. Held at the Thousand Oaks Civic Center, the live stage show was a tribute to the radio shows of the 30's & 40's... and was arranged by dad's friend, and former music director of The Tonight Show, Shelly Cohen. Shelly and his orchestra, The Swing Tones, performed... Ed McMahon mc'd... and dad was the stage manager! it was fun to see dad, Shelly and Ed together again! they all worked together so many years ago on The Tonight Show (dad was the commercial director back then). i think they all had a memorable time... a bit of nostagia is good for the soul, right!

and now, until i put down the knitting needles again in trade for the keyboard to publish another post, may you enjoy happy thoughts... and happy knitting!

... love . leigh
