The perfect beach-y sweater!

... this is one of my most favorite season.... when we change the clocks - gaining that extra light at the end of the day... giving us the impression of longer days... (an especially nice treat on the weekends, right!) .. the spring-time season bringing with it one of my favorite ways to spend some valuable free minutes (geez, it sounds like a cell phone ad, aye?!)... driving to the beach (happily, it is only a short ride through the canyon from my home) to take a walk... peruse the shops at Malibu Colony... or, (and yes, this is definitly tops on my list), spend a couple of hours relaxing in my beach-chair.. enjoying the ocean air... while... you guessed it... KNITTING!

with the warmer temperatures slowly making their way to us... i've begun knitting up what i think is the perfect "beach" sweater... the blanket cardigan (pictured to the right) designed by Sarah Dallas (Sarah Dallas Knitting - copyright Rowan Yarns 22005, Martingale & Company). i've just recently started the project... and am very excited about this piece... as the Rowan wool/cotton yarn is so smooth and soft, i know it's going to end up being one of my favorite all-around things to wear! the pattern has a rather "free form" style to it... perfect for putting on over a t-shirt or tank, once the ocean breezez start causing the hair on one's arms to stand up... and that salt-water frizzy thing starts messin' with your hair-du! indeed, it's going to take a-while for me to complete this next addition to my wardrobe.... given the limited time i have available to knit during the week... but hopefully i'll have all the pieces completed by the end of april. then i'll decide if i have the gutz to sew them together myself... or if i'm going to shop that part of the project out to a friend who is far more experienced than i!

... currently i'm knitting the back piece (that's it over there in the photo)... and am just about ready to start shaping the armholes... who knew life could be so exciting, right?!! I chose a pink/grey combo. i know, i know... it doesn't look like much now... St St for 40 cm... "Big deal!" you might say... but just wait til' it's done... cuz' it's gunna B-1-derful! and on that note... i'm off to fetch my knitting bag and get back to it!

happy thoughts... happy Easter egg hunting... and happy knitting! love.leigh

That is going to be loverly. I like the shade you chose. It will be more cheerful than the original and go nicely with the sunsets from your end of the shore.
