Tah-Dah... the Waterlilly Tunic!

... after 2 and 1/3 skeins of Colinette Giotto (Monet 101 / 100g - 156 yd) ribbon... 3 sets of circulars and one set of straight needles... a bunch of markers, stitch holders and an UMP-teen number of stitches (x2 in some sections of the pattern due to pesky mistakes resulting in having to frog it!)... a pissed-off feline fighting for my affection... and only a couple of hours at the end of each day for me to actually focus on this project (due to having to attend a full-time job which allows me to pay for knitting materials)... i have a new addition to my wardrobe, the Waterlilly Top (designed by Katy Ryan - pattern published in Interweave Knits Spring 2006 Issue - pgs.46-48). The bestest thing about this pretty springtime garment... (the first "garment" that I've ever knit)... is that IT FITS!! If you're a Knitter (and most likely U-R if you're still reading this), I know you can appreciate the joy of making something that you'll actually look forward to wearing out in public! ... what can I say... this knit-gal is one happy camper! having originally purchased 4 skeins for the project (just to be on the safe side - you know... "guage" issues being what they are! and yes... i did a swatch n' everything - the yarn is way to $pricey$ to skimp on important details!) i still came out ahead with one full skein and about 2/3 of another left over ... so, i went back to The Village Knittery (Westlake Village) on my lunch break today and bought one more skein ... cuz' i'm gunna make another top... but plan to alter the pattern so that it has a halter-top closure instead. mind you, i'm no pattern writer, so i'll be checking in with the experts for help with the idea. if the style of the tunic captures your fancy... and if you're at an intermediate level with your knitting (or have a friend who is and loves making things for you), this pattern is a piece-o-cake! and the final result will give you a beautiful, delicate top to wear all spring/summer long! okay... there's already something new cast on the #6's ... it's the blanket cardigan, which you can find the pattern for in Sarah Dallas Knitting (it's pictured on the book's cover)... and with that, the vision and mission continue! until next time, enjoy all that you do.... with happy thoughts and happy knitting to fill your heart and soul! love.leigh
