... this Memorial Day weekend marks my 2-year anniversary from when i first learned to make wonderful things with two stix and a piece of string... and let me tell you, i've been a dye-hard knit-freak ever since! during these past two years, knitting has not simply provided me with "crafty knowlege" to turn to when i have some free time.... knitting has become my free time! it has opened my life to a new and invaluable creative thought-process. it has furthured my level of patience... which was already compaired to that of a saint... that is until i had to frog a piece knit from Rowan Silk Haze! ... knitting has sparked a willingness in me to learn something new... the acceptance when i fail in my attempts... and, in the same breath, the piece of mind that comes with learning from mistakes (rip... rip... rip... frog... frog... frog!)... and turning them into "happy mistakes" (i.e. the recent dye job i did on a couple of wool hanks - now being knit up into a couple of "Monet-inspired" handbags). knitting has shown me how to look at things from different viewpoints... to take an idea and expand upon it... and grow it into something very different from its initial birth. and, most importantly, knitting has introduced me to many wonderful new friends! people who are generous with their time, with sharing their skills and ideas... people with whom I very much enjoy sharing my free time and as well, my ever-growing knowledge of this craft! so... as the Memorial Day weekend gets underway, my knitting bag is filled to the top with numerous projects and ready to follow me in tow wherever i go over the next several days... cuz' there's gunna be a whole lotta knittin' going on in my world! hope you have a (safe) FUN holiday!! happy thoughts... and happy knitting! love.leigh
