Tahiti-Style Picture Frames and Tu-Tu Tea Cozy...
finally... the weekend! ... it's friday night... the work week is over (YAY!)... i'm too tired to even think about venturing away from mi' casa tonight... so i thought i'd do some surfin' on the web.... and then i thought - hey, what better time to get some pix up on the ol' blog! so... for sharing with all you knit-enthusiasts... here are a couple of the projects i completed for holiday gifts... inspired by patterns in the 'knit 2 together' book by Mel Carl (designer and owner of WildFiber in santa monica) and comedianne, Tracy Ullman (fellow Knitting enthusiast)... First, the Tahiti-Style
picture frames... VERY fun and quick knitting... the timely part is in knitting up the flower petal embellishments... and sewing them on, along with the vintage button centers... i was quite pleased with the outcome! made 4 of these as gifts for my family/friends this Christmas... and i promised one to the lovely dominique - owner extraordinaire of 'Bath Lush' (www.bathlush.com) in Valley Village - as she was kind enough to part with a nice little oil painting that caught my eye in her store!... dominque - i have one project to finish this weekend, and then i promise - i'll get those flowers sewn onto your frame! ... and then there's the Tu-Tu-Tea-Cozy.... this pattern is very easy, but again, it is the sewing of the knit ruffles and i-chord tie that is a bit tidious. nevertheless, i LOVED this little piece... and added some pom-poms to the tie closure which made it
extra "cute".... it found a home wrapped around a cute, white tea-pot that i found at HomeGoods (LOVE that store!) and was sent to my buddy boo and her family (not without some flavored teas and lemon ginger cookies) for them to enjoy at tea time in their home outside London. ... so, if you're looking for some 'off the beaten' path' patterns... these are two fun ones to consider... and i have to say, i'm pretty fond of all of the patterns in the 'knit 2 together' book! have my eye on a nice sweater in it that may become my springtime project! for now though, i'm on a restricted yarn purchasing diet - that is in effect until i finish the projects i'm
currently working on.... (oh... did i mention i took up crewel work, too!?? ... wish i had a few more sets of fingers!)... anyway - hope you like the pix!... until the next post... happy thoughts... and happy knitting! love.leigh.knitz
