Greetings from the obsessed knit-girl! It's been a bit of a busy time lately... not allowing for much knitting n' purling to my great dismay ... But, happily, things have simmered down a tad, and I was able to spend some quality companionship with my knitting club, needles and yarn over the weekend (can you see the BIG SMILE on my face?)
To begin with... I experienced the always-enjoyable gratificaton of completing a project (YAY!)... This one being the Sublime vest pictured here. Can I tell you how incredible this Sublime yarn is to work with?!! Simply stated... It's sublime! This string is running neck n' neck with Misti Alpaca as my favorite fibre! Gloriously soft, and it blocks out B.U.T.fully (Thank you, Delores and Naomi - the experts at The Village Knittery - for all of your help!).
The added joy was finding not one, not two, but THREE of the exact bone buttons etched with little horsies that I wanted to fill in the button holes. Praise be to the Button Goddess! Of course, now the temperatures here in Surf City are rising... so it's unlikely that the vest will see the light of day for a few months... But I'm O-So-Happy with the end result... and will enjoy the first crisp fall day when I can introduce it to a T-shirt and favorite pair of jeans and show it off!
Though it's probably not necessary to inform you, please rest assured -- there is another project on my needles... This time it's a sweater from the Ella Rae Pattern Book Seven (yes, that's the little gem in the picture over there...). The pattern is called "Divine" and the yarn used... "Silkience" .... a lovely light-weight fibre simply perfect for a spring/summer sweater. I chose a chocolate brown color and have finished knitting the back. Now knitting up a front panel and totally enjoying (!?#!?#%!?) the learning process of the blasted bobble pattern... (No, I'm not going to admit to how many times i've had to back-knit so far!
Let's just say that I'm becoming quite an expert at it!) There's been little time to focus on the embellishing of a couple of felted handbags currently in-progress.... slowly but surely though, they're inching their way towards completion. A few final touches here and there... sewing in the fabric linings... attaching the handles... and planting a tree in the design of the green felted bag... Eventually it will all get done. Why-O-Why do I continue to pursue such tedious tasks?? I HATE TO SEW... and am truly not very good at it.... But for some unknown reason, I'm forever stitching-stitching-stitching (not without stabbing-stabbing-
stabbing holes in my fingers with the sharp pointed needle... and then swearing-swearing-swearing!)...Oh, if there were only little fairy-seamstresses fluttering about my craft room at night, quietly stitching away.
Never-th'-less, it's been a treat to kick off my flip-flops, sit back n' relax on the sofa and let the creative juices flow through the ol' fingertips over the last two days. Surprise, surprise... I'm already turning the pages of pattern books in search of another "something" to cast-on. "Hello. My name is Leigh, and I'm a Knit-O-Holic.Until next time...
Happy thoughts... and Happy Knitting!
(... and remember - once n' awhile you've got to stop n' smell the roses!)

... Love.Leigh.Knitz
